One of the regrets during my 15 years of living in Rome, is never having visited Genoa, the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. What reminded me of that was the Columbus Day celebration in New York.

However, I did go to the little town of Genzano known for their Flower Festivals. It's called the Infiorata di Genzano, held every year since 1773. The first one that my wife and I went to was in 1992 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus' discovery of America. Hence the connection with this blog.

I have gone back to Genzano many times with friends and clients, as witness these pictures. When we finished walking through the flowers, we always had lunch at Cacciatori...great food...and then we almost collapsed.

I highly recommend this day trip from Rome. The Infiorata is always the 2nd or 3rd Sunday in June to celebrate the Sunday of Corpus Domini. The tentative dates in 2019 are June 8-10.

Let me arrange your itinerary to Rome...

Air, Airport transfers in Rome, Hotel, Restaurants, Sightseeing, and Genzano. Nobody does it better than me.
