FROM "CHARMING" TO A "STAR"
FROM "CHARMING" TO A "STAR"
A few months ago, I came across a Newsletter that I wrote
in April 2002 featuring Rome's Hotel d’Inghilterra.
Since I was going back to Rome,
I thought that I should revisit the hotel.
Also, I wanted to see their recent renovations.

In 2002, the D'Inghilterra was part of the Charming Hotel Group.
Today, it’s part of the STARHOTELS Collezione.
In 2002, it was a 4*hotel.
Today, as I predicted, it’s a 5* hotel.
From Charming to a Star.
While the hotel's history goes back to the 16th century,
mine only goes back to the '80's.
My wife and I visited Rome at least twice a year
and her first chore, on the first day,
was to go shopping because after 2-3 weeks,
the clothes wouldn't fit her.

And what was her favorite label?
Valentino.
And where was Valentino?
Next to the D'Inghilterra!

And where did we relax after the shopping?
The hotel's bar.
Yes, I knew this hotel very well.

So, after 16 years, what were my impressions?
I liked it very much!!!
From top to bottom, the d'Inghilterra has been transformed
into a hotel worthy of the 5* rating.
Each of the hotel's 88 rooms and suites
are furnished differently and tastefully.
From the lobby sitting rooms to the Penthouse Suite,
the public spaces and guest rooms are decorated with
chandeliers, paintings, precious objects and bright bold colors
creating the feeling of an elegant home away from home.

On the top floor,
the penthouse suite has a private terrace
ideal for receptions, private parties
or even a romantic candlelight dinner for two.

Or, of course, you can just sit near the fireplace,
wine in hand, and marvel at the magnificent view.

In addition to the Suites,
the d'Inghilterra has an outstanding range
plus, in addition to the terrace venue,
there are other rooms in the hotel
as well as across the street in the Palazzo Tornolia.
Let's not forget the food. This is after all, ROMA!
Starting with the delicious buffet breafasts...

and continuing into the night
in the hotel's elegant indoor dining room
or al fresco at the Cafe' Romano.
All's well with the world.

Now it's time for the most important part
of your journey...
SHOPPING!

The hotel is right in the middle of the Golden Triangle.
In whichever direction you turn, you're in it.
There's the world famous Via Condotti where fashion begins.
Flanking the Via Condotti on each side
are more streets with more designer fashions.
If the prices are too high,
try the Castel Romano Designer Outlet.
It's outside of Rome but worth the trip!

Finally, let's go sightseeing and there's plenty to see.
Again, the d'Inghilterra is close to most of the important sites on your list...
the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the Piazza Navona.
Because of my experience in Rome,
I have access to the best English-speaking tour guides.
In conclusion, there's a saying that sums up Rome.
"While the Colosseum stands, Rome shall stand;
when the Colosseum falls, Rome shall fall;
when Rome falls, the world shall fall."
After 2,000 years, it's still standing.
So take advantage and see all that Rome has to offer.
That's it, folks.
Finito.

It's really right up there, or better.
It's beautiful, inside & out, plus great service.
And as I learned in the real estate business,
Location, Location, Location.
